Richard Sharp appointed as Chairman of the BBC

Richard Sharp has been announced as the new Chairman of the BBC, succeeding Sir Sir David Clementi, who steps down from the role next month.

The former Goldman Sachs banker was Chairman of The Royal Academy of Arts from 2007 to 2012, served on The Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee for six years until 2019, and has recently been acting as an economic adviser to Chancellor Rishi Sunak during the coronavirus pandemic.
